As ever, I remain heartily suspicious of Top N listings, preferring instead to use the phrase as an excuse to list a number of recordings released in 2007 to which I found myself returning for pleasure, instruction, or solace after the initial flush of novelty had worn off. These are among the list of recordings I would give as gifts to people I cared about, which is as good as it gets. Your mileage may vary, as ever.
